In the Navi Mumbai station

In the Navi Mumbai station
Anand Ram Prabhu and I were distributing books in a train. When we got down at Nerul Station, a policeman caught us.

"A good offense is the best defense."

I immediately began asking him to take a Bhagavad Gita.

He said, "You are selling in the train. Show me your permission."

I told him that we are not selling, but preaching, and whoever reads this Gita will be a productive citizen.

The policeman said, "Rs 1200 fine you have to pay."

I humbly told him that we are not vendors. We're coming from our office and using time we normally set aside for our personal lives, because this entire month many of us, along with our wives and children, distribute the Bhagavad Gita. I told him that Iskcon Kharghar already got permission to put a stall in every station of the Navi Mumbai area.

Policeman: But permission is only for the railway station. You can't do it inside the train.

Me: Kindly tell and guide us how we can get a permission for inside the train then.

The policeman remained silent, thinking how to answer.

Anand Ram Prabhu: "Where do you stay, sir?"

Policeman: I stay in Vashi.

Me: Please take this list of programs happening in your area: youth program, small children's program, family group program, our satsang program. You will have a peaceful family life and cultured children.

Policeman: Actually you are doing very good work for society. That's why I will not do anything. I already have your Bhagavad Gita. I will also read it from today and attend your programs.

Me: Thank you. Hare Krisnna!

(And we continue our Book Distribution)

One great experience in my life was when I distributed a Gita in a train to a Muslim imam. He asked for a Gita in Urdu and promised to read it.
