Lucky thieves

Lucky thieves

Hare Krsna,

While I was giving a class on book distribution to the Sydney sankirtan devotees, we started sharing experiences, and one came out that was almost unbelievable.

There were two brothers in Poland who made their living by entering people's homes when they were out, stealing their belongings and then selling them. Once they were in a house when a car pulled up in the driveway. They had just gotten there, so they didn't get anything, and they had to get out quick.

As they were leaving one of them thought, "We have to get something," and he saw a book on a table, so he grabbed it. When they got in their get-away-car, the one with the book showed it to his brother.

His brother said, "A book! I can't believe you got a book."

"Hey, I like to read. Maybe there's something good in it."

He took it home, gradually read it, and it made a lot of sense. He was telling his brother about what he read, and his brother also found it interesting. Eventually they both became initiated devotees. This happened about twenty years ago. They are still active in Krsna consciousness.

They went to steal, and Krsna stole their hearts.

Your servant,
Vijaya Dasa
