Welcome to the Journey
I was distributing at the Santa Monica Promenade in Los Angeles when I approached a group of three young men. Two of them walked on, while the other one looked at the book I was showing, "The Journey of Self Discovery." I handed it to him and asked him to check it out. I then showed him the pictures.
While I was showing them, he yelled at his friends, "Hey guys, come and look at these cool pictures."
They came over and were appreciating the messages in the artwork about karma and reincarnation. Then I told them I'm a monk and we just ask for a donation for the printing. They enthusiastically gave a donation.
After the donation was given I said, "Welcome to the journey."
The one that initially took interest in the book said, "It's surreal that you say that. Three hours ago I wrote on my facebook page: 'today starts the journey' and now you give me this book and say, 'welcome to the journey.' This isn't an accicent, I think I'm going to like this book."
I then gave him the address to our temple, and they were all enthusiastic to visit.
A couple of days earlier I was distributing at the same place when I approaced a couple and showed them the same book.
As I was showing it, one of them said, "Man you can't show me pictures like that (the karma and reincarnation pictures), I'm on acid!" [LSD].
He went running away. At least he touched the book. Maybe in the future, when he's sober, he'll be able to get the mercy of Lord Caitanya and Lord Nityananda, who intoxicates the world with love of Krsna.
