Making the Connection – Distributing Srila Prabhupada’s books!
The common thread of Srila Prabhupada's teachings in his books is that we are not this body but are pure spirit soul, which is the eternal servant of Krsna and that he is the father of everyone. By the mercy of Guru and Gauranga, during the three months we spent in Kenya and Tanzania, distributing Srila Prabhupada's books to the East African people, I found that even the most uneducated person, when he or she begins to understand about the difference between the material body and the eternal spirit soul somehow a connection begins with Srila Prabhupada's books. Distributing books at the East Gate Shopping Mall in Johannesburg, coming towards me, I saw Indian man, whith a stride of great urgency in his step D also I notice he was holding up a Bhagavad Gita as It Is, in so doing so waving it at me.
I found this book – I remember seeing you a little while ago, giving one to a person. I thanked him for bringing me the Bhagavad Gita and told him that it was a very important book, and that I was very proud of him for returning such an important book back to me. I said to him, Now that you have been so kind to give the book back to me, I think the best thing you could do, and you will be very blessed, is to take the book and give me a donation for it. Without hesitating, he took out his wallet and gave me a nice donation. I thanked him for taking the Bagavad Gita and told him, that he should not only ready it, but to study and to apply the teachings practically in his daily life. In time to come, he would soon discover what a priceless jewel he had, that would change his life forever D Srila Prabhupada ki jay!
At the Sandton City Shopping mall, I went into one of those stores that sell those rejuvenating anti-aging creams that are so expensive, that is all the rage with the yuppies. I introduced myself to the sales lady, Good day madam, do you have any cream or lotion that can stop birth, death, old age and desease? She hesitaded at first, and replied, No, but we do have something that… I stopped he in mid-sentence, put my book bag on the counter and said to her, Well I am here to make your day, take a look at these, you may be pleasantly surprised. I started handing her books one by one, she silently read the back and front covers, she said to me, Yes, they certainly look very interesting. How much do I owe you?
