Indian Youth at a Crossroads

Bhagavad Gita As It Is

Inspired by a godbrother expert at distributing books, I accompanied him to a mall in Bangalore, as a newbie book distributor, to distribute Bhagavad Gita As It Is. Bangalore is one of India's westernized cities, with a widespread technology industry and supporting technology schools.

I walked up to a pair of technology students who had just entered the mall and placed a Bhagavad Gita in their hands.

Young adults in India are at a crossroads, confused between the indigenous Indian and Western cultures; these two were the best samples of that segment. Respectful of the indigenous culture, they could not refuse the Bhagavad Gita being placed in their hands.

And when I repeated a point from a lecture that the young Indians are confused because they can neither follow their culture owing to peer pressure in school, nor can they "open up" and perform all the sinful activities of the Western culture, it immediately connected with them, melted their hearts, and they took the Bhagavad Gita, though they weren't carrying much money.

Srila Prabhupada and family, ki jai!

Your servant,
Vamsi Govind Dasa
