Book Distribution in Ukraine
Yesterday after a seminar I gave at the annual maha festival in Russia I asked if any of the Sankirtan devotees had any stories they would like to share, so one devotee told us of this incident: He was going door to door in one posh office complex in South Ukraine, when he went to one office he met a man that was very interested in reading the books. He was going through a change in his life, he wanted to know about God, and give up all his bad habits. But, he said he couldn't take the books because that very day the President of Ukraine was coming to visit him in his office and thus they would be drinking vodka and other types of liquor and so he didn't want that these spiritual books be in his possession when such things were going on. Then he told him to come back in one year and he'll buy all the books and give double what is usually given. Now the devotee is very astonished, first the man won't take because of the impure activities that will be taking place and now he wants him to come back in one year! Why a year? He tried in a nice way to convince him to maybe take the books the next day, why wait a year. But the man was insistent.
So, the devotee agreed, gave him three sticks of incense and left, thanking him for his interest.
He went back a year later. When the devotee went to this mans office he had a full set of books in his arms. He walked in finding that the man was on the phone, the man was so surprised to see the devotee and the books that he dropped the phone. After he finished his phone conversation he expressed how happy he was to see the devotee. He took all the books and did as he promised by giving double what is normally given. And told him that the President appreciated the incense.
The devotees name is Urukrama Das.
