Meeting a student during our daughters class

Bhagavad GitaI handed a student at San Francisco State University four books. He was walking by with a skateboard under his arm, wearing a red hoody. I told him that this is spiritual knowledge from India and that I'm a monk.

I was supposed to go to Westgate with Khela Tirtha Prabhu to distribute books, but my wife asked me to take our daughter Megan to her Bharat Natram class.

And that was a good thing for the hero of this story: Tim from up north, a graphic-design student.

I distributed books for part of the time that Megan was in class and stopped Tim with a comment on his entirely black outfit. I also used KT's line: "Did you get that tatoo here in Blockhouse Bay?"

That's when he told me he was from up north.

Then I presented the Bhagavad Gita. He was interested, but he didnt have any cash and asked if he could get this info online.

I looked at him for a second and Supersoul came to my aid … I said "Yes, it's all online, but it's unlikely, Tim, that you'll follow through to actually look at it. Since the book is here in your hands it's probably your destiny that you get this one. How about going to the ATM and giving something from your heart to cover the printing costs?"

He said, "OK, I'll be back in five minutes."

Having learned the hard way what happens when people say this, I said, "I'll walk with you," and we went a few steps to the bank. He happily went away with a Gita and a Chant And Be Happy.

He knew about the Loft from having seen the signs outside on the street, but hasn't been there . . . yet.

Your servant,
Nitai-cand Dasa
