The Determination of Our Young Vaisnava Warriors
One morning, Vaisesika Prabhu held a wonderful seminar for children: The Glories of Srimad Bhagavatam and How to Present the Book. The kids listened attentively, made notes, and took part in hands-on training. After the seminar, they were fired up to distribute the Bhagavatam, especially Balaram, Adavaita Srinivasan, Aprameya, and Anameya. We then went out in Cupertino, door to door, just to fulfill the enthusiastic desires of our little sankirtan warriors.
They presented books at several homes, taking turns, sang the Lord's beautiful pastimes, and made sincere presentations. The weather was very cold, and at most homes we were not invited in, so the kids stood in the cold and presented the books. When I asked them whether they wanted to stop, they wanted to keep going.
Around 5:30, I had to make a call to stop, as it really was getting much colder. All we distributed was one Gita, so the kids were a little sad that no Bhagavatams were distributed. We discussed that it's not an ordinary thing that people heard about the spotless Purana. Thus seeds were sown. The families got favorable impressions. Vaisesika Prabhu had mentioned in the morning's class that listening to the Dasavatara takes away all the heart's anxieties. Remembering those words and thinking about them cheered everyone up.
We all ate nice South Indian prasada cooked by Padmapriya at her home, and then the kids played. As we all got into cars to head home, Aprameya got down from his car and came running. I thought he'd forgotten something, but he actually came to ask me, “Mataji, are we going out next weekend?”
The brothers Aprameya (11) and Anameya (8) have both read the Bhagavatam twice.
All glories to Leena and Vivek Prabhu for their amazing parental guidance in bringing up the boys!
