Man proposes, God disposes
I was setting up my table at Pacific Beach, two blocks from the San Diego temple (how convenient!), when a man came by and asked, “Do you have the fifty-dollar stack of books?
“Yes, I do.”
I started piling the books up.
“Okay. I’ll come back and get it a little later.”
I thought that this guy was playing a game, but an hour later he came back.
However, then he again said he’d be back later.
I thought, “Now he’s stretching the game.”
Well, he returned an hour later, and he was ready to take the stack. I gave him a Gita, the SSR and JSD, Krishna book and TLC. He gave fifty dollars.
I said to him, “It’s pretty amazing that I hadn’t even set up my table and you came asking for a stack of books.”
“Yes. I’ve seen you before, but that time I didn’t get any books. This morning I was thinking that I need to get those books, but I wondered where I will find that monk. Then I’m walking down the boardwalk, and there you are. I think there is some divine energy at work around here.”
I said, “Yes, there are no accidents. You desire, and Krsna makes the arrangements. Man proposes and God disposes.”
What’s mysterious about this is that no book distributors put a price of fifty dollars on a stack of books. I don’t know where he got that from. But his suggestion was welcome.
