A prisoner receives a Bhagavatam set
The Auckland Loft recently received a letter from a prisoner in the Auckland Correctional Facility, saying that he wanted The Nectar of Devotion, Teachings of Lord Caitanya and the Krsna Book. Munjaranya went to great lengths to connect with him on the phone, and after a week she succeeded. It turns out that he had just moved there from the Christchurch prison, where he had found a Bhagavad Gita and read it. Then he had contacted the temple in Christchurch, which sent him japa beads, and he started chanting. Now he is chanting twenty rounds a day.
Munjaranya suggested to him that he read the Srimad Bhagavatam, and he revealed that he had already read up to the eighth canto from a set that ISKCON Auckland had placed in the Christchurch prison, as part of their sponsorship program in 2021. So Munjaranya arranged the sponsorship of another set, and through communication with the prison authorities he could receive the Bhagavatam. What better use of time in prison than reading Srimad Bhagavatam and chanting twenty rounds a day!
