Book Table outside Grocery Store
Years ago when I used to do some book distribution in Dallas, we used to put up a book table outside indian grocery stores and give a prasadam cookie to everyopne going inside the store and try to sell them a book when they come out. One such evening, one asian lady came while her husband was waiting in the car on the curb. As usual we gave her a cookie, she paused for a while and just glanced at the books. I said, "we will show you these when you come out". She went inside the store munching on the cookie. When she came out, she asked what is it all about. I told her about our temple and Bhagavad Gita and other books that we were trying to distribute. She said she's a muslim from Pakistan and won't be able to take any of these books.
I said,"That's ok but if you like could you give a donation?" She put her hand in the purse, and while taking out $5.00, she was saying,"I can't believe it, I'm a muslim and giving money to a hindu temple", and she handed me the money. In return I gave her a "Higher Taste" saying,"this is a cook book, and its gift from us". Happily she went, bolstering our faith in prasadam and Prabhupada books.
