The Lone Soldier
by Devakinandana Dasa
Even though I'm just one lone sankirtana soldier, a lot of the time sankirtana brings me so much joy that I wish I never had to stop to sleep, eat, and all the other things an embodied soul must do.
Today started off with me meeting a few people I had met before. One fellow I see every now, and then told me that the knowledge contained in Srila Prabhupada's books has helped him to give up drugs and improve his life.
Tomorrow night a Chinese Buddhist couple I gave books to a few years ago, are coming over to take prasadam. They are gradually making spiritual advancement.
While I was on the street distributing books, a little aboriginal child came up to me and asked me if he could have a book. The boy was so small and cute that I had to look down, and as I handed him the book he gave me two dollars then ran back to his mother and brother who were sitting on a nearby bench. As I continued distributing, he and his brother watched, while laughing and cheering everytime I distributed a book.
My most recent realization is that there has never been a time when people are as favorable as they now seem. As Kali yuga progresses; the mercy of Gaura Nitai becomes unlimitedly stronger and stronger. It appears that the demoniac governments around the world are pushing maya like never before, so we have to try and convince them to take up Krishna consciousness. I believe we should try to meet these world leaders and give them Srila Prabhupada's books.
