A Gita for the flight
Returning from the year-end festival in Otaki, New Zealand, I saw a young man sitting by himself at the Wellington airport. We made eye contact as we entered the boarding area. I had a Bhagavad Gita with me and wanted to distribute it before going to Sydney. I prayed for inspiration and went for a walk in the waiting area scanning for a favourable person.
I happen to start a conversation with this young man, Latrell, and asked whether he was a sports person. He said that he plays league for the Roosters and lives in Bankstown, Sydney, and is seventeen years old.
He was young, had some interest, and was a perfect candidate.
I asked, "Many good players do physical exercise for the body and meditation for the mind to develop focus. Do they teach you this as part of the training?"
He said, "Yes, a little bit of meditation."
I presented the book as a book for meditation. Did the presentation showing how it's read by famous persons, and I asked him if he is famous, too. He smiled and said that his uncle is more famous and he would like to become like him.
I told him he could take the book and that people give donations. He said he had only coins left, but gave more than what we ask for. He also said there is nothing to do during the three-hour flight and he will read it on the flight.
Navina Nirada Prabhu says he makes sure to carry one Gita with him on flights and prays to Krsna to send him one sincere soul. I brought two Gitas, and Krsna engaged me in distributing both. My chanting is not so good therefore I carried two to give myself a push.
