A Good Impression
In response to the complaint story, last year there was an interesting transaction in Bristol, England, that turned out quite the opposite of the Catherine experience. A devotee was going door to door, and at one of the doors he knocked on a man answered and asked the devotee to move on because the man's wife was suffering from cancer. Before the devotee departed he had a brief discussion with the man about healthy vegetarian diets. Then the devotee said goodbye — but he left a Hare Krishna cookbook with the next-door neighbor as a gift for the man whose wife had cancer. Later the neighbor gave the man the book, and the man was so moved that he sent a letter to the Bristol Temple glorifying the devotee, and he included a donation.
As a fellow struggling book distributor I frequently reflect on past mistakes, but when we get it right (right from the heart) it leaves a good impression on everyone.
All glories to Srila Prabhupada!
