I had put up a stall close to chembur station. One Middle aged man walking by out of curiosity came to check. He looked at the books and looking at me said “ Madam, why are you wasting time with these books. I do not believe in all those things. They do not exists.” Challenged in this way, I wanted to immediately refute him. But then I knew that its very difficult to convice such a person. So I told him,
“ Sir, I can give you some answers but provided you have time to hear me speak. if you are intersted I can speak .” The man said that he had time and that he wished to hear her. I asked him a question – “what’s your name. Do you have kids.” Sensing his age , I asked him whether his kids are grown up. Getting a yes, I just asked him that what if one day you walk in your home and your children refuse to recognize you. how would he feel. What if they come and say “You are not my father”. How will You feel ?
Man couldn’t digest the example. I told him what if it really happens, Think about it. He was shocked. He related the example with the statement he mad about the books and existence of God. After few minutes of contemplation he asked for the rate of English Bhagavad gita. And purchased it. And left. The very Next morning, I saw him walking by the same road . This time he himself came over and appreciated my efforts to share the thoughts as well as this great book. At this point, he mentioned how next day in their colony there is going to be religious function and that he was inviting me to come to put a stall on behalf of chembur south india association. He said that whatever help was needed , he will readily provide it happily.
