Becoming Fearless
by Bhakta Corey
I was distributing in a Walmart parking lot in San Antonio, Texas the other day. I handed a book to a young mother who was carrying her two or three year old daughter in her arms. She took the book looked at it, and then her daughter grabbed it from her. I said "See, she likes it too" and then she gave me a donation.
Next, I distributed an Easy Journey to Other Planets to one family, and the father handed it to his five year old son to read. It was interesting to meet someone who seemed open enough to give his child a book from a random stranger he had just met on the street. I think that I got a special feeling, in knowing that this five-year old boy will one day be reading Srila Prabhupada's books.
My realization is if a you continue to distribute books, then the day will come when there will be no more fear, and you will actually begin to enjoy doing book distribution. This is quite an enjoyable activity, although it might be hard at first, due to shyness or lack of confidence but soon it will become pure enjoyment.
I try not to take too seriously anything that the non-devotees may say to me every day, and I continue to beat my mind with transcendental thoughts, thus finding myself becoming more and more fearless.
