Birthday Nam

Danavir Goswami

…On a previous maha-harinam, of course on saturday, we were approached by one business man and friends loitering outside of a cafe. He approached asking if we would come inside to sing happy birhtday to his colleague. The man was then brought to Danavir Goswami who at first told him that we just chant Hare Krishna. In reply to this the man said 'I am willing to make a considerable donation', and as H.H. Danavir Goswami was okaying the whole thing to take place the man further added; 'and you can chant Hare Krishna'.

We, about 10 of us, were led to the back entrance of the cafe and down three flights of stairs to a private banquet hall. There a group of about ten to fifteen guests applauded and 'yahooed' us as we entered. Then the chanted commenced and the birthday man blushed as red as the drink he was holding. Meanwhile our contact who invited us in gave a fifty dollar donation and that sparked the harinam bookbag to catch on fire. Only on special occasions does this bag carry a hard Bhagavad Gita for harinam, but on this occasion through the Lord's potency was it being giving to the birthday celebrator.

Other books also went out from the bag of Bhakta Jerone from Radhadesh and in total all bookbags were nearly emptied for this suprise unique experience. In recent encounters with persons here in K.C. one person was approached and she said that her father really enjoyed having the devoted souls of Lord Krishna there for his birthday.
