Book Distribution at the Universities
I was distributing when a student, Steve, came to the table, he was interested but had no money. An hour and a half later a girl came to the table, I showed her the books and she immediately gave a donation without my asking for one. She then said, “I was at home when my friend called, told me to get some money, go to the campus and get a book called the Bhagavad Gita from a monk at a table in the free speach area.” I asked her what his name was, she said, “Steve.”
This is the nice thing about a book table, you’re fixed at a certain place and they know where you are and can come back. Every day so many students come back after talking to me and get a book.
A student came to my table and asked, “Are you Vijaya?" “Yes I am." “I receive your e-mails, they’re very inspiring, thank you for sending them.” He already had Bhagavad Gita so I showed him the SSR and he enthusiastically gave a donation for that also.
I was showing the Bhagavad Gita to a student and had explained quite a bit of it to him but he was still reluctant to take it. Then I read to him verses 20 to 23 of the sixth chapter. As soon as I finished reading it he said, “Alright, I’m convinced, I’ll take it.” I quite often read these four verses to the students, they’re powerful verses.
I had distributed a BG to a student. Two hours later he came back to me and said, “I had the book on my desk in the classroom when my professor saw it, he came over opened it up bent down and quietly said to me, 'Have you seen the amazing pictures in this book?' Then he started showing them to me, and explaining them. I was surprised that he knew so much about the book.”
A lady came to the table and I showed her the Bhagavad Gita. She said, "I'm a student of linguistics and have read the Bhagavad Gita." I said, "Oh, in the original text?" "Yes, it in the original text, Hebrew……"
