Anger Anger Everywhere
Recently Shadbhuj Prabhu and Bhakta Rajesh Bajaj Prabhu had a tough encounter in the local trains in Mumbai. Shadbhuj Prabhu recalls:
We were distributing books in the local trains. At one compartment, I raised my hand to show the books and make announcements, "In today's world everyone is suffering from stress?" Suddenly someone pushed me from behind, "Get aside! God knows why you people come to trouble us." It was a hawker with his wares. "Wait brother," I requested. "Let me finish my job." "Why do you people come here?" he began shouting. "You kick on our stomachs. We get our food by this job and you come and throw us away." The man went on and on in sheer anger without any provocation. Bajaj Prabhu stepped in. "OK, you go ahead. The entire train is your property. We will wait."
The hawker displayed his wares and made petty sales while we waited on the side. While exiting he again gave us a sour look and a shrug. Suddenly an idea dawned to me. I said to the people on the train, "Just see. Here is live example of how we get stressed out and angry at slightest provocation. We simply have no tolerance. These books based on Bhagvad Gita will give us the strength to face the stresses of the world today. You will learn to be peaceful, tolerant and stable. Please take."
The audience had just seen a live demonstration both of the stressed out hawker and the cool Hare Krishnas and they could make out that the process worked for us. Where as earlier hardly two three books were going, now at least ten people took the books.
