Books Distributed at a Mumbai Police Station
One day, after deciding to distribute books in a police station, I entered the station and sought permission, but a constable said, “Madam, here nobody will take your books — they have come here as a result of their never reading such books. However, you can ask the staff whether anyone wants the Gita.”
We asked everyone, but no one seemed interested. Disappointed and dejected, I then heard a voice calling. It was the Police Inspector. He called me to his office and said that he had studied in Pune, where he was regularly attending classes given by Radheshyam Prabhu in the ISKCON Pune temple, but he had somehow lost touch because of his job. He immediately bought ten Gitas and also asked his constables to purchase books. He promised to help us in the future.
This made me realize how book distribution is helpful in uniting devotees who have somehow lost touch.
