Buddhist Got the Mercy
a letter from Muniraj das
We were distributing prasadam in the center of Helsinki, and were just walking to one certain place when one lady ran up to me and said, "Oh, I saw orange robes, I thought you were from Mahayana. But you are a Hare Krsna. I thought you were a buddhist. I have found the truth of three jewels."
This woman talked more: previously, she studied to be Christian priest, but changed to Buddhism while visiting the East. She had nice realizations about the material world; her husband got a new woman and so on.
Now she was collecting money so that she could start her career as a nun. Seemed to be serious. She was quite favorable, had also visited some of our places in India. I tried to give her prasadam but . . . "Oh, let me see this." She grabbed the book on bhakti-yoga from my basket. "I will take this!" And happily gave 20 euros, although previously complained how she was out of money.
I told her the comment of Dalai Lama: "There is no need for a new lama since these books (Srila Prabhupada's) are out there".
"He really said that?" she asked.
"Yes"
Also in August we were distributing books in Lappland. We vere in Rovaniemi, the biggest city there. After two hours 7 books had gone out, and it was a bit of a heavy mood. I went to our car and chanted 2 rounds with a loud voice, as intensely as possible. I came out, and I was getting more books from the back door of our car when suddenly there was a voice of a lady asking: "Is there a Buddhist center here?" Speaking english with a heavy French accent.
I told the lady that I don't know about Buddhists; we are Hare Krsnas. That lady also first told her life story, in 7 minutes, but ended up giving a donation of 20 euros and got a book by Suhotra Swami and some bhajans.
Hare Krsna, all glories to Srila Prabhupada.
