Campus Conjurer Gets Gita
By Bhakta Corey
Yesterday I approached a student sitting in his car and showed him a Bhagavad Gita. He became interested and said, "My girlfriend is into this stuff." After giving a donation, he asked, "Does this teach you yogic powers?"
I said, "The yogic powers are kind of a side-track or distraction. Sometimes bogus 'saints' in India produce gold out of thin air and thus convince foolish people that they're God."
He replied, "My girlfriend also creates things out of thin air. Every morning we try to create our own day. When I and my girlfriend wake up, we each meditate on what we would like to happen that day, and it usually comes true."
At that point I pointed to our sankirtan van parked nearby and said, "Could you have your girlfriend create us a new van?"
He laughed and told me he and his girlfriend would enjoy reading the book.
