Chowpatty fields another book distributor
"I want to do something. . . . I want to do something," said Srivas Thakur when he met us on Sunday in our transcendental book "godown," or book warehouse.
We offered him various options for book distribution: door-to-door; stalls at the nearest railway station; sastra dan.
Srivas decided to try them all. During the day, while in his office, he'd try sastra dan through his contacts; in the evening, the stalls.
(Sastra dan means asking someone to sponsor Gitas to be distributed free or at a low price in poor villages.)
Srivas, at his office, was trying some of his contacts, but nothing much happened. Still, he was not ready to give up. Desparate, he sat at his PC with his Google search menu on the screen and prayed:
In Bhagavad-gita, Krishna says, dadami buddhi yogam tvam: "I give intelligence to all sincere souls."
While praying to Krishna, he typed krishna in the google search.
There were so many hits. Srivas's eyes fell on Krishna Industries.
"Who can be this pious man be, who has named his industries for Krishna?"
Collecting details about the owner from the site, Srivas called the owner and presented the idea of donating books to villages as a wonderful way of pleasing Krishna.
In no time, the owner agreed to sponsor twelve Bhagavad-gitas and invited Srivas Thakur to collect the cheque from his office.
Srila Prabhupada's book marathon, ki jay!
With this suceess behind him, Srivas Thakur has Googled "Krishna Motors," "Krishna Pharmaceuticals" and so on. He already has orders for fifty Gitas.
And Srivas Thakur Prabhu can be met every evening blissfully distributing Srila Prabhupada's books at the Mira Road Railway Station in Mumbai.
