December Marathon letter from His Holiness Bhakti Charu Swami
To the devotees of South Africa:
I received a request from Varsavanavi devi-dasi, the BBT secretary for South Africa, for a message for the December book marathon. My immediate reaction to that request was to ask you with all sincerity to try your best to go out and try to distribute as many books as possible.
It is very unfortunate that the book distribution spirit in South Africa, which was one of the leading book distributing nations, has dampened drastically in the recent past. And you can see the result.
Srila Prabhupada founded this movement on his books. Therefore, from the way the books are distributed and how the devotees are followings the teachings in Srila Prabhupada's books, one can see the condition of our movement. During his last days on this planet, Srila Prabhupada used to say that the news of book distribution used to give him life. If we consider that ISKCON is Srila Prabhupada's body, then we can very well imagine where the life-force to this body comes from. Therefore I request you with all sincerity: please take up this mission with full conviction and push it forward with full enthusiasm, not only just for the month of December, but for all the time, throughout the year, every day.
Mold your life according to Srila Prabhupada's books and also inspire others to do the same.
