Defeating the Illusory Energy
There is one young girl with a young child who has been visiting the temple in Los Angeles. However her boyfriend, the father to her child, did not like it. He ended up babysitting and making angry phone calls to her while she was trying to do service at the temple, (why are you leaving your child for so long? how could you do this? why do you like that Hare Krishna anyway?) He did not like the devotees.
She is a generally a good mother but she wanted to experience devotional service and association with devotees. (That makes her a better mother.) Anyway, the last time she spent time here I gave her a copy of 16 Rounds to take home.
She and the boy were talking in a park and having yet another fight and she got out of their truck and went for a walk with the child. He ended up reading the 16 Rounds. He said he was affected by the poem in it by Suhotra Swami, "The universe is woven, over and under, back and forth, out of the fabric of the illusory energy of the Supreme Person. What games do you think you can play here?"
After that he apologized to her and cried. He accompanied her to the temple for the Srila Prabhupada Festival on Memorial weekend. This time she did the babysitting and he made Prabhupada cookies, and ghee wicks for the leaf lamp offerings. Devotees spoke to him about Krishna consciousness and he bought a bead bag and beads. He is chanting eight rounds now. He wants to move near the temple and do service.
Jai! All glories to Suhotra Swami! All glories to Srila Prabhupada! All glories to transcendental literatures!
Your humble servant,
