Elevation to Krsna Consciousness
After distributing books at the Santa Moinca Mall, I was going back to my vehicle in a parking structure. While I stood inside the elevator, a man quickly came in before the door closed.
I said to him, "You barely made it in."
I had my book box with an assortment of books in it, which he saw, so he said, "You have quite an assortment of books there."
"Yes, I distribute them. I'm a traveling monk. Can I show them to you?"
I showed him my favorite book, the Bhagavad gita, and he liked it. So I asked him for a donation. He said he only had his credit card.
I said, "No problem I have a credit card reader."
He said, "OK, great, let's do it."
He got the mercy of Krsna in the elevator. That's the first time that I've distributed a book in an elevator.
I remember meeting a devotee in India who would regularly distribute books in the elevator in a tall building she lived in. She said one advantage of distribution in the elevator is they have nowhere to go, so they have to at least listen, and quite often they take books.
PS All of the sankirtan devotees should look into getting a credit card reader. It's become the age of plastic. A lot of people don't carry cash. Sometimes half of the books I distribute are to people that only have credit cards.
