Enthusiasm is contagious

Berlin, Germany

Berlin, Germany,

I met one young kid and after going through the normal opening lines handed him a few books. It turns he was from Sweden, and as is normal with people of Scandinavian descent, was a dedicated atheist (studying molecular chemistry in Berlin), and had a very one-dimesional personality. He was very skeptical of the books and began to fire off a load of very mechanical questions- "What is this?" "What will it do?" "Why do I need that?" "Does it work?" After 2 minutes of such "conversation" I was just about to give up when two elderly (must of been in their late 70's) Polish women came up. One of them was VERY fired up to see a devotee, and she grabbed me and started shaking me telling me how wonderful it is that we are distributing these books. Then she starting preaching to the Swedish boy about how she was into yoga, and that the Bhagavad Gita was a great book. Anyway, to make a long story short, the woman bought two books for herself, sold two more to her sister (the other woman with her), and after they left, the Swedish kid was so inspired that he bought three books for himself!

Your servant,
