Gauranga’s mercy !!!
In heavy traffic, suddenly Revati started patting my shoulder, asking me to stop. There was no marketplace or anything, but still she insisted on going back to the only shop on the road. The shop owner accepted our greeting of "Hare Krishna" and offered us chairs to sit on.
We started showing him books, but he refused, refused, and refused again and again. So we told him about a mid-day meal program, and he was ready to donate 1500 for that. Again, taking the opportunity to preach about our books, we told him about Sri Chaitanya Mahaprabhu for about thirty minutes.
It seems that he drowned in the flood of Gauranga's mercy, as he agreed to have set of Caitanya-caritamrita.
Revati had seen a set of Caitanya-caritamrita in a bookshop, and she had prayed to Srila Prabhupada that someone can receive Mahaprabhu's mercy in the form of Caitanya-caritamrita. That it happened so soon was far, far beyond our tiny thinking, but Srila Prabhupada did it.
Another time, we met a sixty-two-year-old accountant in a shop. Making him comfortable, we gave him Jagannath prasada. Then slowly we started showing him Srila Prabhupada's books. He enthusiastically asked us many questions about the books. After knowing about the books, he said that they are urgently needed in this Age of Kali. He took five books. He was a sober-hearted fellow. He told us that he belongs to a poor family, and they live hand to mouth. But still, by the eagerness with which he accepted Srila Prabhupada's mercy, he showed his open-heartedness. Inviting him to the temple, we left the shop.
