If you only take two you’ll regret it…
A pious lady walks over to my book table and says, “Sorry to interrupt your dinner. Do you any have books about Caitanya Mahaprabhu?”
With a huge smile, I respond, “Just on this rare occasion, I happened to have a nine-volume Caitanya-caritamrita set waiting to go to your beautiful home with you.”
When I showed her the set, she replied, “No, no. I don’t want nine books. I want only one or two. May I take just two books?”
I explained to her that these books have the most authorized translations and commentaries.
I added, “They are so pleasing to the heart and soul and give you such relief from material existence that if you take only two, you will regret it. Srila Prabhupada’s guru used to say that these pastimes of Sri Caitanya Mahaprabhu are so nice that people will learn Bengali just to read this book.”
Finally, she agreed to take the set. A really sweet and spiritual family, whose photo is attached for the pleasure of the Vaishnavas.
