Kids go out
After the Vyasapuja, Advaita told me he was feeling sleepy and did not want to go on book distribution.
I told him, "Sure, you can take rest. But do you know that today's book distribution is an offering to Vaisesika Prabhu for his vyasa-puja day?"
He responded "Oh, then I will go." At ISV, kids are growing up watching offerings being made to Srila Prabhupada throughout the year, and I felt it certainly has made deep imprints in their hearts about the importance of offerings to beloved acharyas.
Before we started, while preparing to say a prayer to the Deities, I asked Abhijeet (age ten) if he would like to lead today's prayer.
He said, "I don't know what to pray for. But I think today we can pray to Krishna to give us more ideas so we can distribute more books."
It was straight from his heart and very inspiring. He wanted to pray to know how to do more books. We all prayed to the Lord to give us more ideas so that we become instruments in distributing a huge number of Srila Prabhupada's books.
These sparks in children for service, if we encourage them, takes them a long way. And actually they inspire us by their enthusiasm and sincerity.
We showed the Bhagavatam to a few families. One of the families was very pious. They wanted to buy a set soon.
Radha-kripa Prabhu connected instantly to the families we met by telling them from his own experience how he was inspired by Srila Prabhupada's books. One person he met had wanted a Gita for a long time and was very happy to receive one right at his home. He asked how to read it.
We stayed out late (till 9 p.m.) on book distribution, and the kids were enthusiastic to do more. Special thanks to Siddhakatha and Suvarna-gopika for getting dinner prasada prepared for everyone.
Param Vijayate Sri Krishna Sankirtanam!
Your servant,
Kamesvari-devi Dasi
