Krishna is Making a Place for Himself in Each Home
A small team of devotees, and I went door-to-door in Cupertino, California. At almost every door we knocked on, the people happily accepted a Srimad Bhagavatam set. We have been covering this area for a little more than a month.
We knocked on a door with nice decorations on it, and Tulsi was growing in the front yard. The first week that we knocked on the door, no one was home. The second week, only a child was home, so we could not talk to adults. The third week, the housewife answered the door, but was uninterested. Last week, we were thinking, we should try one last time, as we had not met the head of the household.
We knocked, and it so happened that they were celebrating their daughter's sixteenth birthday. Sri Krishna Prabhu knew one of the guests, and all the guests took a Bhagavad Gita. The host took a Srimad Bhagavatam set. He is a very pious gentleman and a colleague of Hari Sankirtan Prabhu. He had actually been looking for the Srimad Bhagavatam for some time, so it was Krishna's arrangement. Then Sri Krishna's friend also wanted a Srimad Bhagavatam set, so we distributed another set.
We had a similar experience at another door. The first time we knocked, the grandparents answered the door and said that their daughter-in-law teaches South Indian classical dance and is busy till the evening. We went the next time and met her husband, but he could not talk that day. Last weekend, his wife answered and she looked really tired. She was soft spoken and pious. In just five minutes, she accepted the Srimad Bhagavatam set.
Later she told us, “To tell you the truth, I was really stressed out, and I was just asking my husband that we should read Bhagavad Gita. We needed to find a copy and you showed up at the door.”
I felt that Krishna was arranging these situations and making a place for Himself in each home. We were happy to be instruments to deliver Krishna in the form of Srimad Bhagavatam at each home.
