this book distribution katha is very enlivening, especially to those of us (like myself) who are living outside of the temple but who would still like to be a part of the book distribution experience.
sastra dana is a wonderful way to get srila prabhupada's books out to the public. one place that i like to place prabhupada's books is in laundromats and laundry rooms in apartment buildings. many times such places have bookshelves for customers to read while waiting for their clothes to get washed, and they welcome all sorts of books. ive donated smaller books to my apartment building's laundry room and they are always taken.
