Long Lost Devotee Gets Sets of Books

Long lost devotee gets sets of books

An older man was watching my attempts to distribute Srila Prabhupada's books. He approached me and asked whether I had any new books.

He introduced himself as Vedanta Dasa. He lost contact with devotees for twenty-five years. After a nice conversation with me, he bought some small books and went on his way.

During the marathon, Vedanta Dasa approached me again, four months since the initial contact. He was looking into my box of books asking for more books, but because I was focused on trying to stop people I wasn't paying attention to him.

He began inquiring about the Srimad Bhagavatam and Caitanya-caritamrita, which caught my attention. Being inspired, he committed to buying both sets. He couldn't afford the whole set of Caitanya-caritamrita, so I go once a week to his work place and sell him a book from the set and give him burfi and laddus. He gives $50 every week. He distributes the sweets to his colleagues, and he says that they have become addicted and look forward to him bringing more the next week. He now asks me to bring small books every week, which he distributes to his friends and work mates. He also purchased tulasi neckbeads and wants to visit the temple for the Sunday feast, for the first time in decades.

It's wonderful to see how Krsna never forgets a devotee's service and will make arrangements so that he can continue where he left off.
