Los Angeles Shastra Dan Newsletter VOL. 3, ISSUE 13
SASTRA DANA
This is taken from the Sastra Dana newsletter, volume 1, issue 1.
WHAT IS SASTRA DANA? Sastra Dana means “share the sastra” and the purpose of this program is to invite congregational devotees to participate directly in missionary activities of book distribution by sponsoring books. The ultimate goal is to replace all the mundane literature, at least in the area of Los Angeles. We are meeting every two weeks to talk about this program and share some delicious prasadam.
HOW CAN I PARTICIPATE?
By sponsoring books, attending the meetings, hosting the programs, cooking, distributing books…
HOW WILL WE DISTRIBUTE THE BOOKS?
By donating whole sets to libraries, schools, social institutions, etc., where they will be properly kept and read. Or you can keep some of the books to distribute yourself among your friends.
WHAT IS THE BENEFIT OF THIS PROGRAM?
Everyone benefits! Of course the people in general benefit by getting a chance to read Srila Prabhupada’s books. Also, the help of the congregation enlivens the temple devotees, and the congregational devotees participate directly in the preaching effort. Srila Prabhupada is pleased too.
