While I was in India Bhakta Bobby was overseeing the Sastra Dana program. What follows is a letter that he wrote in attention to publish it in the newsletter. Now that I am back and found the letter I decided to publish it. Please continue reading. (Mahat-tattva dasa)
Hare Krishna! Please accept my humble obeisances. All glories to Srila Prabhupada!
Most of you don’t know who I am, but I’ve had the blessing of a lifetime to oversee the Sastra Dana program while Mahat-tattva is in India. Before this, I never knew exactly how powerful the Sastra Dana program is. Please allow me to touch on this point.
As I am writing this, the Sastra Dana program is involved in many different projects that are allowing so many people to receive Caitanya Mahaprabhu’s and Srila Prabhupada’s mercy. First off, we have a prison ministry headed by Syamasundara Prabhu – a program that’s giving so many a better opportunity than what they can get outside. An opportunity to know Krishna! And we’re starting to see the results.
Secondly, we have Bhaktins Anastasia, Sara and Maureen hauling books to nail salons, coffee shops and anywhere else books are accepted. This is a most valuable way for a person to meet Krishna. All glories to their great service!
Thirdly, Arcita Prabhu, who is known for his college preaching program, is handing out books to classrooms full of students. Just imagine the mercy these students are getting by receiving a class on Krishna Consciousness, Prabhupada’s books, prasadam and taking part in chanting. All in one hour!
Then the last I’ll mention but certainly not the end of the programs is Mahat-tattva himself traveling to libraries, colleges, high schools, coffee shops and anywhere else he can think of and giving out the mercy.
Just imagine the power of this Sastra Dana program! And just think, it is all powered by you! Yes you, the person holding this newsletter! So we are all indebted for millions of births unto you.
Now hoping you got the message and a clear understanding of how great Sastra Dana is, I wanted to humbly put forward a request. Mahat-tattva is still in India as I write and I wanted to try and fulfill his desire while he is away. Mahat-tattva Prabhu has so many fantastic ideas about getting the books out to the conditioned souls. So that means we desperately need your help.
Since this program is powered by you, we need help from all of you to reach our goal. We see Canela, Vamsi Prabhu’s and other families helping out so nicely that we want to encourage everyone to help give. We are begging that everyone who receives a newsletter to kindly donate at least ten (thousand) dollars to help support all of the running programs. This would help get things really rolling on.
