More Nectar from Madhu Mangal das
On the last day of Srila Prabhupada’s December Book Marathon, I was caught by a security guard at the shopping mall. The Lady told me that I could not distribute Srila Prabhupada’s books and that I was not allowed to sell them. I told her that I was not selling them and began preaching to her. While preaching to her, she got on her 2-way radio and muttered something that I did not want to leave the shopping mall. Next thing I knew, this big burly looking security guard arrived on the scene and said that I should come up to the center management office. I told him that it was not necessary for me to go to the management and I walked ahead pretending that I did not hear what he said to me. I saw him stopping at the entrance, waiting for me to leave. I went up to him and told him that I was going to leave.
I began preaching to him and told him that I was not in competition with the other shops. He again said to me, that I should go to the center management for permission to distribute your books in the center. I told him that it was no use asking them, as they would still refuse. I began preaching to him and gave him a book, but he refused, saying that his employers have told him that he is not allowed to accept gifts or money from the public. I told him to please take Srila Prabhupada’s book, and gave it to him. He looked at me and sighed with a look of great anxiety on his face, I could see that he wanted to take the book. But then he gave it back to me the second time. I told him to at least accept an invitation to our programs, and then the most amazing thing happened. He said to me in a very hushed voice,“Okay, give me the book!” with a look of relief on his face he gave me a donation. I put my arms around him and hugged him very tightly, and said to him “You are a very special soul, please try to understand what we are doing here. Sometimes we have to take great risks to spread the message of the Lord”. He looked at me with a big smile on his face that could have melted a simply wonderful at 50 paces. I left praying to Srila Prabhupada and Sri Caitanya Mahaprabhu to please bless him. Hare Krsna
