Terminal 1 Los Angeles Airport

Dear Prabhu,
Please accept my humble obeisances.
All glories to Srila Prabhupada.

In Terminal One, LA Airport, today, I was moving around, looking for prospective customers to take Srila Prabhupada's books, when I noticed a group of young men hanging around casually and appearing like prime candidates for some mercy.

So I approached them, but was pointed in the direction of one young lady amongst them, who seemed to be some sort of manager or spokesperson. She was lively and intersted as I hit her up, handing her a copy of Science of Self-realisation. She asked some intelligent questions, gave a nice donation and took the book.

Looking around the group, I sensed that they were a little out of the ordinary, but I couldn't recognise anyone, until I finally saw the face of one guy sitting on the floor. I whispered to the lady "Is that Noel Gallager?" and she confirmed it was. Yes, they were the popstar band Oasis.

I bent down and introduced myself to Noel and shook his hand. He wouldn't take a book, but said he'd look at the one the lady had. Then an announcement was made that they could check in. As they moved towards the desk, I noticed Liam Gallager, the singer with a raucious reptutation. I approached him: "Hi Liam, nice to meet you," and offered my hand to shake.

He backed off saying "Stay away from me! You're mad, you lot!" I laughed out loud, but hesitated to comment how rich that was, coming from him, which you will know if you've ever seen a story about him in the press.

About ten minutes later, further down the terminal 'mall', I saw Liam again on his own. This time he was more peaceful and talkative. We talked a little and I hit on some common ground, as he is from Levenshulme, Manchester, England, and I am also from the north of England. He enquired what I was doing and asked what it was like being a 'monk.' We talked a little about spiritual life and hopefully we may see him again, maybe on ISKCON property…

Your Servant,

Vraja Kumara Das
