Saved in Ukraine
I’m in the holy dhama of Mayapur. As I got ready to take rest last night, I heard a kirtan not far away. It was my neighbor, Niranjana Swami, and some devotees having a bhajana. Niranjana Maharaja is one of my favorite kirtaniyas, so I went over to hear the nectar of the holy names.
After he had chanted a while, he saw me and said that he had a sankirtan story to tell me.
In Ukraine, there are devotees cooking for the Food for Life program. They cook at the bottom of an empty swimming pool, because it’s safer down there.
After they cooked and offered the food to Krsna, they went to the place where they regularly distribute the prasada.
When they arrived, one of the devotees asked, “Do we have Srila Prabhupada’s books?”
They looked in the van and saw that they didn’t. So they decided to go back to get some books.
When they finally returned to the place where they distribute the prasada, they saw that a missile had hit the very spot.
If they had not left to get Prabhupada’s books, they most likely would have left their bodies or been badly injured. Prabhupada’s books saved them.
