Small World, and “Sorry I want a wife”
I was distributing books on Broadway Ave. in New York City when I apprached a man with his wife. When I showed him the Science of Self Realization he said, "I already have that book." Then he looked at me again and said, "And I think I got it from you last year in Hawaii."
I said, "Yes sir, you probably did because I was in Hawaii last year."
Then I asked him if he would like to have another book. He said, "No, I'm still reading the one I received from you last year. But I'll probably see you again somewhere on the planet next year, then I'll get another one from you."
A little later I approached a man and offered a book to him. He was looking at it as I was explaining the contents. Then he said, "No, I don't want it." He was a nice guy, and inquisitive so I asked him why he didn't want it. He said, "Because I want a wife, and I know if I read that book and follow the teachings I won't want one, so I don't want the book. But I will give a donation." He gave a donation and I again tried to give him a small book saying, "You can follow these teachings and have a wife, there are many happily married people following these teachings." But he wouldn't take it.
Some people can feel the serioussness of Prabhupada's books.
