Srila Prabhupada’s Chastisement is that of a Loving Father
I was distributing books at a famous food restaurant at Gurgaon (India). I approached a senior person while he was leaving the restaurant. From his demeanor & grey hair, I understood that he was a reputable person working with a big organization. I offered him some books, and he said that he already has some books by Srila Prabhupada, but he has now stopped reading them. I was surprised and sorry to hear this and asked him to share the reason. He said that he finds Srila Prabhupada language to be very offensive at times. I explained to him that he should not feel offended, Srila Prabhupada is like a loving father who chastises his child for not being Krishna conscious. I told him that even Krishna is using similar language. He argued back that Krishna could never use such language and it's only interpreters who use it.
I showed him the verse BG 7.15:
na mam duskritino mudhah prapadyante naradhamah
mayayapahrta-jnana asuram bhavam asritah.
"Those miscreants who are grossly foolish, who are lowest of mankind, who's knowledge is stolen by illusion, and who partake of the atheistic nature of demons do not surrender to Me."
I requested him to read the verse and the purport. After he had read the verse, I again told him that he has to take Srila Prabhupada words as those of a loving father. He was convinced and promised that he will again start reading Srila Prabhupada's book. He also said that when he next comes across such strong words from Srila Prabhupada, he will consider them as words of a loving father chastising his child. He also took one more book!
All glories to transcendental book distribution! All glories to Srila Prabhupada!
