Synchronized Encounter in the library
In the midst of our winter marathon in Wellington NZ, I was coming down with the flu and wasn't feeling up to standing on the cold windy streets as usual. Racking my brains for an alternative, I decided to try out distributing in the library which offered a warm environment and shelter from the elements.
In the hushed, studious library space I gently approached persons as they browsed through the books on the shelves. After some nice exchanges I felt inspired to head towards the 'spiritual/religious' section, hoping to meet an interesting person there.
As I approached the section, a short young man came into view. As he browsed through a book on lucid dreaming I cruised up to him, feigning to be also scanning through the 'spiritual books' section. A moment later I put down an opening line, explaining that I was a monk who had come to the library to meet all the smart people. Emyr, a young student of philosophy and physics broke out into a big grin and explained that he too had felt inspired to hang out around this section of the library today, hoping to meet someone interested in spiritual subject matter!
Delighted by the synchronicity clearly arranged by the Supersoul we went on to have a nice discussion on a broad range of topics including consciousness, lucid dreaming and meditation. As Emyr revealed his disappointment at not being able to find a good book on meditation I showed him a copy of 'Chant and be happy', which he gladly took after giving a nice donation. As I wound up the exchange I invited him to visit us at the Bhakti Lounge (our CBD welcome center) for our next Sunday Soulfeast festival.
The following Sunday night I was in ecstasy to see that he indeed attended and relished the evening.
Heading off the beat and track to distribute Srila Prabhupada's books in different places by the mercy of Guru and Gauranga, ki jaya!
