The Most Dangerous Thing You’ll Ever Do
I met a young man with some numbers tattooed on his arm. I asked him what they meant, and he responded that because he did many dangerous things, his friends call him “9-lives Ryan,” meaning he had nine chances to escape death. So he got tattooed with the numbers 1 through 9 to give him encouragement to keep living life on the edge. I showed him a Srimad Bhagavatam, and we discussed a bit about reincarnation and Himalayan yogis (he was into yoga). I told him we get donations: costs ten to print; twenty is generous.
So he gave twenty and said, “Why the hell not? You have been so wonderful.”
I also handed him a Chant and Be Happy.
I asked, “Do you want to do something really dangerous?”
We chanted the maha-mantra together and I explained the meaning.
I said. “It's the most dangerous thing you will ever do, 9-lives Ryan.”
He seemed amused and asked why. I explained that the maha-mantra takes away all one's material happiness and floods the self with spiritual reality and spiritual happiness, your material life dies. He seemed impressed and happily went on his way.
