The nectar of book distribution
Recently, I distributed books at Palomar College in southern California. An African-American was looking at the books, and he asked the price of “Teachings of Lord Caitanya.”
I said, “You can’t put a price on wisdom, but for this, people give around $10.”
“OK, I’ll be back.”
He returned in fifteen minutes and said, “You know, I want that book because of the cover picture, because he dances.”
I responded, “Not only does He dance but He encourages thousands and millions of others to dance. He’s the best dancer.”
An hour later, another person came to my table. I asked his name. He motioned that he can’t hear or speak. I asked him if he can read lips.
He said he could, so I explained the Bhagavad Gita.
After my presentation, I asked whether he would like one. He motioned that he would. Then he pointed to a Srimad Bhagavatam, and I put that on top of the Gita. He then showed interest in “The Journey of Self Discovery,” which I put on the stack. Then he put the Nectar of Devotion on top of those books and gave a nice donation. He was so enthusiastic to receive Prabhupada’s books.
This was the first time I distributed books to a deaf and dumb person. Book distribution is nectar.
