To Give People Time

Bhagavad Gita

Hare Krsna Prabhus,

Please accept my humble obeisances. All glories to Srila Prabhupada!

During the Janmastami maraton, I was walking down the street aproaching people and stopped a middle-aged man. He looked at the books and told me that He did not have time. I was distributing in Vaisnava dress. After a few minutes He approached me again. He asked me if I had about a half hour or hour to meet someone. I thought about it and agreed to his proposal. He told me that he knew a lady who probably would be interested in such books.

I drove with him in his car and talked with him. He was telling me about an experience of how he left his body in his youth and saw his body lying on the ground. Then we arrived at that lady's place. She had some kind of a pub. I talked with her, and she seemed to be a nice sincere lady with a good heart. But she did not have much money because of a bad season. I showed her the Gita and some big books. She took only one and took an address from me where she could contact me.

Then that man while taking me back talked a little more, and he wanted a Gita and two big books. He also asked me what that lady's opinion was, and I told him that she was inspired and wanted Bhagavatams. We went to the sankirtan van, because I did not have a Gita with me. I showed Him the whole set of Bhavagatams, and he decided to take it for that lady. But He did not have the money with Him. He gave me His phone number, and we made an agreement that I would call him the next day and find out his decision.

When I called him, we made an agreement that at seven in the evening we would meet by car. He came there, and I showed Him a full set as devotees in the car were praying. He told me that He is a Jew and wanted some discount, but I was only laughing and told him that we are monks. Finally He looked at me said O.K. and took the set. He was the last person on that marathon.
