Please accept my humble obeisances, all glories to Srila Prabhupada!
Srila Prabhupada once said that the sign of a successful temple is how many books are being distributed. By his mercy we have many successful temples worldwide guided by devotees who stuck to Srila Prabhupada's desire to flood the world with transcendental knowledge.
What stands out most this month is Kiev, Ukraine, where even during a war the devotees are determined to distribute books. Figuratively speaking, they're the real soldiers, fighting maya, as Srila Prabhupada said, “by dropping hundreds and thousands of books into the laps of the conditioned souls, just as during war time the bombs are dropping from the sky.” This is a special war though. Generally a war causes the deaths and suffering of soldiers, but in this war against maya, Lord Caitanya's soldiers experience the highest bliss and their giving happiness to others not pain. So it's called “the nectar of book distribution.” Kiev did 1940.50 book points, a 97% increase.
All glories to their determination!
Here's a sankirtana anecdote from Australia:
I came to a house with a big sign: “No violence is acceptable here. If you cannot treat Aborigines with respect, kindly leave the premises." I knocked and an old aboriginal lady came to the door. I showed her the Gita, and she spontaneously opened it. She looked at the page that she'd turned to and read a word that Srila Prabhupada had written in the purport: Aryan. She said she had a grand-daughter named Aryana. I told her that it means “someone who follows a spiritual culture.” I then flipped to the glossary and read her the definition. She seemed very happy and interested to read the book and gave a generous donation.

Also, one correction to the last newsletter: I gave recognition to Sthanu Prabhu and his wife for a 198% increase in July and said that it was only the two of them distributing. It wasn't just them. He sent me an email saying there are now three brahmacaries, too, traveling around the country distributing in all areas of Bulgaria: Purusa Achyuta, Pandava-Bandhu and Tulsi.
