You Never Know Who Will Take a Book
by Vijaya Dasa
I was in the airport and the distribution was going slowly. Then a businessman came down the hall with his son. He was about fifty and looked like a hard-core businessman, so I was reluctant to speak to him. But I thought, "You never know who will take a book."
I offered him the Bhagavad-gita. He said, "Already have it. I got it in the airport about fifteen years ago. Nice book."
Then I handed him another book, The Journey of Self-Discovery. As soon as I offered it to him, he began to praise both it and theBhagavad-gita. Then he gave a donation much more than I expected so I gave his son a Bhagavad-gita.
A few days later I gave a book to another businessman. He said,Bhagavad-gita great book. I read it about twenty years ago."
I said, "Well, it's probably time to read it again. I'm sure you'll appreciate it even more now."
He then asked, "Are you a Hare Krishna?"
"Yes, I am." Well, it's good to see that you've lightened up. The Krishnas used to be bad." He handed me twenty dollars and accepted another Bhagavad-gita.
